When Champion Meets Legend

By Mullah...

Last night was a night to remember for all worldwide tennis fans. Before that, Assalamualaikum to all readers from me and this is my first posting in English. As we predict it, the final match of Australian Open 2009 is a great match in the modern era; between Federer, a legend in the making, and Nadal, the great Champion of the moment

I, as Federer fan, will always respect the challenge from Nadal and his time will come to become a legend in his time. But, for me, Federer is 'the great player of all time' as Vijay, the commentator, said last night in the Starsport. Just a short of 14 Grand Slam titles that equal Pete Sampras' record, Federer has time to make it equal or even break the record. Pete Sampras even declared it in the New Straits Times that Federer will make it 15 Grand Slam titles. Hhmm.......... Enough praise already for Federer. So how about Nadal??? I, as a tennis fan, respect the attitude, on the court and off the court, of Nadal. As the current No 1 tennis player in the world, Nadal, is the undisputed Champion of Roland Galos for 4 consecutive years in a row, from 2005 to 2008. As the title said, he is the Champion and no words can describe it. He has many years in front of him and let see when this 'Matador of Melbourne' becomes a Legend.... Adios.............

What i really missed during Ramadhan?

Assalamualaikum...

I don't remember where i got the question.

What i really missed during Ramadhan?

I said that was easy. I can think of one immediately. In fact, i didn't really have to think at all. I really missed this one thing, it's always there in my mind.

But the questioner didn't satisfied. That, i remember, because i was asked to list 10:
Okay, i said. Here is the list:

1) Tennis
2) Tennis
3) Tennis
4) Tennis
5) Tennis
6) Tennis
7) Tennis
8) Tennis
9) Tennis
10) McFlurry

There. That's my list of what i really missed during this fasting month.

In fact, whenever my friends told me about 'Raya Sales', here and there, i surprised them by asking: hei, do you happen to know if there's Sales for Nike' or Adidas' Tennis Shoe?
Well, I just couldn't help it, really.

And there's also this one 'secret' i never told anybody.
Everytime, i got back from Tarawih or Subuh Prayer from the mosque, i'll almost certain to wander away from the main road and follow this one route back to my house.
Along the way, exactly at one particular quite spot, i'll slow down my ride a little bit and stare longingly to one simple structure by the side of the road.

A tennis court. Where i played almost daily before the start of Ramadhan.

Huhu, How i really missed playing Tennis!

Only long after that, did i realize, somehow, i also missed McFlurry...

He defeated Andy Murray of Britain -the 6th seeded player who upset Nadal in the semifinal- 6-2, 7-5, 6-2. The paycheck for the champion is USD 1.5 million

And The Champions Are...

Assalamualaikum...

Wimbledon finished early this morning (local time) with a new men's champion emerged replacing 5 time defending champion, Roger Federer.

Rafael Nadal, a claycourt specialist won his first Wimbledon (grass) title when he defeated Federer in 5 set thriller: 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(7-5), 7-6(10-8), 9-7, in a 4 hour and 48 minutes match, the longest match in Wimbledon history.

Huh, such was the intensity of the match, i still got the headache when i went to sleep at about 3 am this morning...

On the women's side, defending champion, Venus Williams defeated her younger sister Serena Williams, 7-5, 6-4, on Saturday to win her fifth Wimbledon title.

Both the winners got 750,000 pound sterling (about USD1.5 million) each, and also become the member of the exclusive All-England Club there in London...

The champions are as i predicted, and i particularly very pleased with my favorite player, Nadal for ending the reign of Federer, although i was a little bit disappointed with my other favorite, Sharapova for crashing out on the second round...

Good luck to them, and borrowing Nadal's line when he wanted to lift his spirit during the match,

VAMOS...!!!
